Mechanical Lead - Medical Device

Provost Contrives is looking for an experienced Mechanical Lead to join our Medical Device Design Group in Kharadi, Pune.
This role combines hands-on mechanical design expertise with technical leadership, team development, and project execution.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers.
Drive concept development, feasibility evaluation, and robust design decisions.
Review and approve 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation.
Lead design of injection-molded, sheet-metal, and precision-machined components.
Ensure strong standards for GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, DFM/DFA.
Validate designs through calculations, analysis, and V&V testing.
Guide selection and qualification of COTS components.
Coordinate with suppliers, toolmakers, and manufacturing teams.
Maintain mechanical sections of the DHF, including V&V protocols and reports.
Support FMEA, hazard analysis, and risk management activities.
Participate in hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and development of engineers.
Represent Mechanical Engineering in cross-functional technical reviews.
🎓 Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
6–8 years of experience in mechanical design.
Strong experience with plastic, metal, and precision-machined parts.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering documentation.
Medical device or regulated-industry experience is an advantage.
Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
