DB Performance Architect(Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS, Performance Tuning, Terraform)

We are seeking a Cloud Database Architect with deep database expertise, strong Infrastructure as Code experience, and hands-on AWS database platform knowledge. The ideal candidate will have proven experience designing Terraform solutions from the ground up rather than simply executing or maintaining existing pipelines, leading complex database migrations and upgrades, driving performance optimization initiatives, and architecting highly available and resilient database platforms on AWS. This role requires both strategic architecture skills and hands-on implementation experience
Key Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)
Establish and drive Terraform standards for database infrastructure provisioning, enabling repeatable, secure, and auditable deployments across AWS environments.
Establish Terraform standards and reusable infrastructure modules for database platforms.
Deliver scalable, secure, and highly available database architectures on AWS.
Lead database migration, upgrade, and modernization initiatives with minimal business disruption.
Improve database performance and operational reliability through proactive tuning and automation.
Drive automation and operational excellence across provisioning, upgrades, backup/recovery, and database lifecycle management.
Core Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain Terraform modules and deployment standards for database infrastructure.
Troubleshoot Terraform state, drift, and deployment issues across AWS environments.
Drive automation of provisioning, patching, upgrades, backups, and operational activities.
Lead cloud migration, upgrade, and modernization initiatives.
Evaluate and implement appropriate migration technologies including Data Pump, RMAN, Data Guard, GoldenGate, and AWS DMS.
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex database performance issues.
Analyze execution plans, AWR/ASH reports, wait events, and tuning opportunities.
Establish performance standards and best practices across database platforms.
Design and validate high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Define backup, recovery, and business continuity standards.
Provide technical leadership during major incidents and recovery events.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of experience in Database Administration, Engineering, or Architecture with strong expertise in Oracle or PostgreSQL databases.
2+ years of hands-on Terraform experience, including designing and building Terraform modules and configurations from scratch.
Strong understanding of Terraform providers, state management, remote backends, drift detection, workspaces, and CI/CD integration.
2+ years of hands-on AWS experience supporting database workloads on Amazon RDS, RDS Custom, and EC2.
5+ years of hands-on database performance tuning experience, including execution plan analysis, SQL tuning, AWR, ASH, SQL Profiles, and root cause analysis.
Strong end-to-end database architecture, migration, modernization, and cloud transformation experience.
Experience designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
Experience leading large-scale database upgrades and migration initiatives.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
