Remote Non-QM Underwriter/Team Lead

Position: Non-QM Underwriter Team Lead
Compensation: $130,000–$135,000 base salary plus tiered bonus plan

Our Client is hiring a Non-QM Underwriter Team Lead. This role is for someone who already has experience leading underwriters in a wholesale or TPO Non-QM environment.
This is not a training role. The right candidate must bring strong Non-QM underwriting knowledge and be able to step in as a subject matter expert, handle escalations, complete second-level reviews, train new hires, assist with interviews, and maintain a light underwriting pipeline.
Responsibilities
• Assist with interviews for Non-QM Underwriter candidates
• Train new Non-QM underwriting hires
• Complete second-level Non-QM underwriting reviews
• Serve as the Non-QM subject matter expert
• Act as the first point of contact for Non-QM file escalations
• Maintain a light underwriting pipeline
• Provide strong customer service to brokers, sales partners, and internal teams
• Think outside the box to problem-solve complex Non-QM files
Qualifications
• Experience as a Team Lead Underwriter in a wholesale or TPO Non-QM environment required
• Strong Non-QM underwriting knowledge required
• Wholesale underwriting experience required
• Experience training Non-QM underwriting hires required
• Experience completing second-level reviews required
• Experience handling Non-QM file escalations required
• Ability to serve as a Non-QM subject matter expert required
• Ability to maintain a light underwriting pipeline while supporting team lead responsibilities
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box
