Role Description The Shopify Developer & CRO Specialist – CPG is a full-time remote role responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining Shopify-based eCommerce stores for consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands. This role includes developing custom themes and functionalities, integrating third-party apps, and ensuring mobile-responsive, high-performance storefronts. The specialist will design and run A/B tests, analyze user behavior, and implement conversion rate optimization (CRO) strategies to improve checkout flow, average order value, and overall site usability. Daily tasks involve collaborating with marketing and brand teams, translating campaign goals into onsite experiences, maintaining product catalogs, and ensuring seamless integrations with analytics, CRM, and marketing automation tools. The role also includes monitoring site performance, resolving technical issues, and proactively recommending data-driven enhancements to improve customer experience and revenue.
Qualifications
Front-end development skills in Shopify (Liquid), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience customizing themes and templates.
CRO and analytics skills, including A/B testing, funnel analysis, and use of tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and heatmapping platforms.
eCommerce and CPG experience, including product merchandising, catalog management, and optimization of PDPs, collections, and checkout flows.
Integration and technical operations skills, such as connecting Shopify with apps for email marketing, subscriptions, payments, inventory, and logistics.
UX/UI and design collaboration skills, including understanding of responsive design, user journeys, and best practices for conversion-focused layouts.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a remote, cross-functional environment.
Experience with performance optimization (site speed, core web vitals) and basic SEO best practices for eCommerce sites.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing) or equivalent professional experience.
Prior experience working with international, remote teams or agencies is a plus.
