About the Role
At Solvo Global, we are seeking a highly analytical Data Engineer / SQL Reporting Analyst with strong experience in IBM DB2, advanced SQL development, and reporting solutions.
This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy working closely with data, understanding business requirements, analyzing complex data structures, and delivering reporting solutions that support critical business decisions.
While this position sits within the data organization, the current focus is not on advanced ETL architecture or modern cloud data platforms. Instead, we are looking for someone with deep SQL expertise, strong reporting experience, and the ability to work across multiple database environments.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and understand complex data models and database structures.
Translate business requirements into SQL queries, reports, and data insights.
Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries.
Create and support operational and business reporting solutions.
Work with data across multiple relational database platforms.
Perform data analysis to identify trends, inconsistencies, and business impacts.
Support reporting requests from internal stakeholders.
Troubleshoot data-related issues and provide effective solutions.
Collaborate with distributed teams and business partners in a fully remote environment.
Document reporting logic, business rules, and technical processes.
Required Qualifications
Database & SQL
4+ years of experience working with IBM DB2.
Advanced SQL development experience.
Strong understanding of query optimization and SQL tuning.
Experience creating and maintaining Stored Procedures.
Ability to write complex joins, subqueries, CTEs, and analytical queries.
Experience working with large datasets and performance optimization.
Database Platforms
Experience working with one or more of the following:
IBM DB2
SQL Server
MySQL
PostgreSQL
Other relational database systems
Reporting & Analytics
Experience building business reports and reporting solutions.
Hands-on experience with reporting and BI tools such as:
Power BI
Cognos
Business Objects
QuickSight
WebFOCUS (preferred but not required)
Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into actionable reports and data insights.
Communication
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working with remote teams.
Ability to explain technical concepts to business users.
Professional English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with IBM i / AS400.
Knowledge of CDC (Change Data Capture).
Experience with incremental data extraction processes.
Exposure to ETL methodologies.
Experience supporting payroll, financial, ERP, or enterprise systems.
