Senior Migration Engineer

We're seeking an experienced CDN Migration Engineer with proven hands-on experience migrating enterprise workloads from existing CDN platforms to AWS CloudFront. In this role, you will lead migration execution, provision and configure AWS CDN infrastructure, automate deployments, and ensure seamless transitions with zero content delivery disruption for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and architect CDN solutions aligned with customer business objectives, performance SLAs, and cost constraints
• Conduct CDN assessments, including traffic analysis, geographic distribution, origin architecture, and performance baselines
• Migrate data, content, hostnames and other applicable items from existing CDN to new CDN
• Provision CDN configuration, WAF configuration, VPCs, subnets and other AWS services as required for CDN using Terraform or CloudFormation automation
• Optimize CDN configurations for caching strategies, compression, SSL/TLS, DDoS protection, and WAF policies
• Customization and scripting using Python and Node.js to develop CloudFront Functions and Lambda@Edge for edge-level request/response manipulation, and to fulfil functions that may be partially supported by CDN
• Responsible for resolution of technical issues; troubleshoot performance anomalies and origin issues
• Conduct performance testing, load testing, and failover scenario validation
• Provide technical guidance on CDN-related security, compliance, and logging requirements
• Develop customer-facing documentation, runbooks, and training materials
• Stay current with CDN platform updates, new features, and industry best practices
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience designing and optimizing CDN solutions in production environments
• Deep hands-on experience with CloudFront. Akamai as additional expertise is preferred
• Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SSL/TLS, and TCP/IP networking
• Experience with caching strategies, cache invalidation, and origin architecture optimization
• Knowledge of DDoS mitigation, WAF, and CDN-based security controls
• Proficiency with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Application Insights, Google Cloud Monitoring, Datadog, etc.)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform) for services provisioning
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to interpret metrics and logs
• Excellent communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• AWS Solutions Architect or equivalent cloud certification preferred
• Proficiency in Python and Node.js for developing CloudFront Functions and Lambda@Edge
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with multi-cloud CDN strategies or CDN migrations
• Familiarity with edge computing, serverless, and edge-based security solutions
• Knowledge of video streaming optimization (HLS, DASH, adaptive bitrate)
• Experience with custom CDN behaviors, request/response rewriting, and routing logic
Track record of delivering customer-facing technical training and documentation
