Junior AI Research Associate – Internship + Job Opportunity

StartupVarsity is looking for enthusiastic and motivated candidates to join as Junior AI Research Associates.
This opportunity is designed for students, fresh graduates, and early-career professionals who want hands-on exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, research, AI agents, and real-world startup projects.
You will work alongside mentors and team members to research AI technologies, experiment with models, work with data, build prototypes, and evaluate AI-powered solutions for emerging startup ideas.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on AI, Machine Learning, and emerging technologies.
Review research papers and summarize important findings.
Collect, clean, organize, and preprocess datasets.
Assist with AI/ML model experimentation and evaluation.
Work with Python and common data/ML libraries.
Support the development of AI prototypes and AI agents.
Document experiments, research findings, assumptions, and results.
Collaborate with mentors and team members on real-world startup projects.
Prepare research notes, reports, and presentations.
Explore practical applications of AI for business and societal problems.
Required Skills
Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts.
Basic programming knowledge, preferably Python.
Familiarity with tools/libraries such as:
Python
NumPy
pandas
scikit-learn
Basic understanding of data collection and data preprocessing.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to learn independently and work collaboratively.
Interest in AI, technology, startups, and entrepreneurship.
Education

Selection Process
The selection process consists of the following stages:
Online Assessment – MCQs covering fundamentals, programming, reasoning, and aptitude.
24-Hour AI Agent Building Challenge – Build and submit a working beginner-friendly AI agent through GitHub.
Online Video Interview – Discussion about your challenge project.
HR & Technical Interview
CEO Interview
Offer
Prior advanced AI knowledge is not required for the initial online assessment.
Compensation
First 3 Months – Internship:
₹10,000 – ₹25,000 per month
After Successful Internship & Job Confirmation:
₹30,000 – ₹50,000 per month

This is a hybrid opportunity, combining in-office collaboration with work-from-home flexibility.
