Job Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Backend Developer to design, build, and scale modern cloud-native applications powered by AI technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Node.js, Azure Functions, PostgreSQL, and API development, along with practical exposure to AI/LLM integrations, intelligent automation, and modern software engineering practices.
You will be responsible for building highly scalable backend services, integrating AI capabilities into business workflows, developing APIs, and enabling AI-powered user experiences across our products.
Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, Express.js, and Azure Functions.
Build secure and high-performance RESTful APIs and event-driven services.
Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases and data models.
Develop microservices and serverless applications on Microsoft Azure.
Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
Ensure system reliability, scalability, observability, and performance.
AI & Intelligent Systems
Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar AI services into business applications.
Develop AI-powered workflows including document processing, conversational assistants, intelligent search, and workflow automation.
Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using vector databases and embeddings.
Design and implement AI agents capable of performing business tasks and orchestrating workflows.
Evaluate and optimize prompts, AI outputs, and model performance.
Implement AI guardrails, monitoring, and usage controls.
Integration & Platform Engineering
Integrate with third-party platforms through APIs, webhooks, and event streams.
Develop data pipelines and backend services supporting AI and analytics workloads.
Work closely with frontend, product, and AI teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
Engineering Excellence
Write unit, integration, and automated tests.
Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.
Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
Follow Agile development methodologies and engineering standards.
Required Skills & Experience
Core Backend Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
5-9 years of backend development experience.
Strong proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, and TypeScript.
Hands-on experience with Azure Functions and Azure cloud services.
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and database optimization.
Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
Understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
Experience with Git and Agile software development.
AI & Modern Development Skills
Experience integrating AI/LLM services such as Azure OpenAI, Anthropic or similar platforms.
Understanding of prompt engineering techniques.
Experience building AI-powered applications or intelligent automation workflows.
Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts.
Familiarity with vector databases such as Qdrant or Azure AI Search.
Hands on experience of AI agents and agent orchestration frameworks.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
Awareness of AI governance, security, and responsible AI practices.
Preferred Skills
Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar AI frameworks.
Experience with Azure AI Foundry / Azure AI Studio.
Knowledge of message queues such as RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or Event Hub.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Exposure to MLOps concepts and AI model deployment.
Experience building SaaS or multi-tenant enterprise applications.
Knowledge of GraphQL and event-driven architectures.
