The Role
Our client is seeking a Research Engineer AI in the Information Technology division.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a global team, providing top-tier service to existing and prospective clients while expanding the business on a product and global level.
Job Description:
Main purpose of the role:
As a Research Engineer, you must own the technical roadmap for document digitisation across collateral, customs, exchange control and global trade, defining how heterogeneous paper and image-based documents are converted into structured, machine-readable and verifiable data. Build classification and extraction systems capable of operating reliably across a wide range of document types, formats, languages and jurisdictions, including degraded scans, stamps, seals, endorsements and handwritten annotations.
Technical skills and requirements:
Machine learning and Document AI.
Strong Python development.
PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Transformer-based document models such as LayoutLM, Donut or equivalent vision language models.
NLP for entity extraction, normalization and relationship detection.
LLM and multimodal-model integration where appropriate.
Model fine-tuning, transfer learning and prompt/model evaluation.
[Desirable] Combining deterministic rules, OCR, ML and LLM-based extraction.
