Coordinator of Volunteers

Role Description The Coordinator of Volunteers is a part-time, remote role responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and supporting volunteers who assist Shine Projects’ student and institutional programs. This role includes organizing volunteer orientations, providing training materials, and ensuring volunteers understand their responsibilities and project timelines. The coordinator will maintain regular communication with volunteers, address queries, and monitor participation and performance to keep activities running smoothly. Day-to-day tasks involve scheduling and coordinating volunteer shifts, tracking attendance, preparing simple reports, and collaborating with internal teams to align volunteer efforts with ongoing initiatives. The role also involves assisting with community outreach campaigns, sharing opportunities with student groups and academic partners, and helping create a positive, inclusive volunteer experience.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Volunteer Management and Volunteer Training skills to effectively onboard, guide, and retain volunteers.
Candidates should possess excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills to build trust, provide clear instructions, and support diverse volunteer groups.
Candidates should possess experience or interest in Community Outreach and engagement with student communities, academic institutions, or nonprofit initiatives.
Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail in scheduling, documentation, and follow-up.
Comfort working in a remote, technology-enabled environment, including use of collaboration tools and basic office software.
Prior experience coordinating volunteers, student clubs, events, or community programs is beneficial.
Background or interest in education, edtech, research, or academic support is an advantage.
