We are looking for experienced Real-Time Chat Developers to build a next-generation messaging infrastructure capable of supporting millions of concurrent users with low latency and enterprise-grade reliability.
Role Overview
As a Real-Time Chat Developer,with 3–8+ years of backend development experience.
you will design and build distributed messaging systems that enable instant communication across the Bolo India platform. You'll work closely with backend, mobile, infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams to develop a highly available chat ecosystem with end-to-end reliability.
Responsibilities
Real-Time Messaging
Design and develop scalable one-to-one and group chat systems.
Build persistent WebSocket-based communication infrastructure.
Implement message delivery acknowledgements.
Develop typing indicators and online/offline presence.
Implement read receipts and delivery status.
Support message synchronization across multiple devices.
Handle offline message delivery.
Build message retry mechanisms.
Backend Development
Design high-performance messaging APIs.
Optimize message routing.
Build scalable chat microservices.
Implement event-driven architectures.
Design distributed queue processing.
Optimize database performance.
Build message indexing and search.
Features Development
Develop features including:

Experience implementing end-to-end encryption (Signal Protocol is a plus).
Experience with push notifications (FCM/APNs).
Familiarity with media processing and CDN optimization.
Knowledge of Indian data protection and compliance requirements (e.g., DPDP Act).
