Role Description
This is a remote, part-time Backend Developer internship role at Catch-A-Price. The intern will help design, build, and maintain backend services that power real-time price comparisons across multiple external platforms. Typical tasks include implementing and optimizing APIs, integrating with third-party services, managing data storage and retrieval, and ensuring system reliability and performance. The role also involves collaborating with other developers, contributing to code reviews, writing unit tests, and documenting technical solutions. Interns are expected to follow best practices in backend development, learn quickly, and contribute to a lean, fast-moving product team.
Qualifications
Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and basic software architecture.
Skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with exposure to server-side frameworks and RESTful APIs.
Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), using at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, Go).
Ability to work with databases (SQL or NoSQL), handle data modeling, and write efficient queries.
Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
