Staff Engineer - Full Stack

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Staff Engineer – Full Stack at NorthLadder. The Staff Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications across the full technology stack. Responsibilities include architecting services and APIs, implementing user-facing features, integrating front-end and back-end components, and ensuring code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation. The role involves collaborating with product, design, data, and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, as well as mentoring engineers, setting technical standards, and driving best practices. The Staff Engineer will also contribute to system reliability and observability, optimize performance, and support continuous improvement of the platform and engineering processes.
Qualifications
Strong full-stack engineering skills across modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Java, .NET, Python), with experience building and maintaining production systems.
Proficiency in core web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, RESTful APIs, and microservices, along with solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), data modeling, performance optimization, and secure data handling.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment.
Strong skills in testing and quality assurance, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks, as well as monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting in distributed systems.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and establish engineering best practices and standards.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and in a remote, distributed environment.
