About the Role
We are seeking a Business Analyst – Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) with strong experience in U.S. healthcare RCM, medical billing, claims, payer workflows, and healthcare technology.
This role combines business analysis, RCM domain expertise, and Product Owner responsibilities. The ideal candidate will work closely with Revenue Cycle Operations, Engineering, Design, Compliance, and business leadership to analyze complex RCM workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate business requirements into clear product requirements and deliverables.
The candidate will act as a key subject-matter expert for the RCM platform and will help drive improvements across the end-to-end revenue cycle, from patient registration and eligibility through claims, payments, denials, and accounts receivable.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & RCM
Analyze and document end-to-end healthcare RCM workflows and business processes.
Work closely with RCM Operations and business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and user pain points.
Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, automation opportunities, and opportunities to improve collections and reduce denials.
Document current-state and future-state workflows, business rules, requirements, and process flows.
Translate complex RCM requirements into clear functional specifications and user stories.
Analyze requirements related to:
Patient registration
Insurance and payer management
Eligibility and benefits verification
Prior authorization
Charge capture
Claims submission and processing
Payment posting
Denial management
Patient billing
Accounts receivable
Partner with stakeholders to define acceptance criteria and expected business outcomes.
Support UAT, defect analysis, validation, and implementation of new functionality.
Product Owner Responsibilities
Act as the Product Owner / RCM domain lead for assigned product areas.
Own and maintain the RCM product backlog in partnership with Engineering and business stakeholders.
Translate business requirements into actionable epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Prioritize backlog items based on business value, operational impact, regulatory requirements, and technical considerations.
Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Work closely with Engineering and Design to clarify requirements throughout development.
Review completed functionality and confirm that it meets defined business requirements.
Coordinate with RCM Operations and other stakeholders during product releases and feature rollouts.
Monitor feedback and product performance to identify additional improvements.
Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for RCM product functionality and workflows.
RCM Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to increase automation and operational efficiency.
Analyze denial trends, claim issues, payment workflows, and A/R processes.
Partner with technical teams to improve payer and clearinghouse integrations.
Help define solutions that improve clean claim rates, collections, payment posting, denial management, and A/R performance.
Support reporting and analytics requirements for RCM operations and product teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, Revenue Cycle Operations, Finance, Compliance, and leadership.
Facilitate requirements workshops and stakeholder discussions.
Communicate complex healthcare and technical requirements clearly to both business and technical audiences.
Support prioritization and decision-making using business requirements, operational data, and stakeholder feedback.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, Product Analyst, or similar role in healthcare technology.
Strong healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) experience is required.
Strong understanding of U.S. healthcare medical billing, claims, payer workflows, reimbursement, and patient responsibility.
Hands-on experience with RCM, PMS, medical billing, claims, clearinghouse, or healthcare SaaS platforms.
Strong understanding of the healthcare claims lifecycle, including:
Eligibility
Authorization
Charge capture
Claims submission
Claim status
Payment posting
Denials
Patient responsibility
Accounts receivable
Experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and translating business requirements into functional requirements and user stories.
Experience working directly with Engineering and technical teams.
Experience managing or supporting a product backlog and prioritizing requirements.
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Notion, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with payer and clearinghouse integrations.
Familiarity with healthcare transaction standards, including:

Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, or CCDA.
Experience working with U.S. commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Experience with RCM reporting, analytics, or product analytics.
Familiarity with tools such as Mixpanel, Looker, GA4, or similar analytics platforms.
Experience with healthcare integrations and API-based systems.
Experience working in a HealthTech, SaaS, behavioral healthcare, or high-growth healthcare organization.
Familiarity with workflow and design tools such as Figma or Miro.
