The Association supports staff welfare and enterprise-development initiatives, including responsible access to credit for eligible staff and verified small-business owners.
Role Description
The Loan Officer is a full-time hybrid role based in Ibadan. The successful candidate will manage loan applications from initial assessment through approval, disbursement, monitoring and repayment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Receiving and reviewing loan applications.
- Collecting and verifying applicants’ financial and business information.
- Assessing income, business turnover, existing obligations and repayment capacity.
- Conducting or coordinating workplace and business-location verification.
- Recommending appropriate loan amounts and repayment terms.
- Explaining loan products, charges and repayment obligations clearly.
- Maintaining accurate application, repayment and customer records.
- Monitoring active loans and following up professionally on overdue repayments.
- Preparing periodic reports on applications, approvals, repayments and outstanding loans.
- Supporting improvements to the Association’s lending and customer-service processes.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Loan Officer, Credit Officer, Relationship Officer or in a similar lending role.
- Knowledge of loan origination, credit assessment, underwriting and repayment monitoring.
- Ability to interpret financial information and evaluate creditworthiness.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and sound judgement.
- Excellent communication, customer-service and relationship-management skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.
- Ability to work independently and use digital documentation and communication tools.
- Willingness to conduct field visits within Ibadan when required.
- Familiarity with microfinance, SME lending or market-retailer lending is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Ibadan markets and the ability to communicate in Yoruba are added advantages.
- Degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
