3D Animator - Volunteer / Revenue Share
We are looking for a 3D Animator to join our team on a medieval strategy game project. This is a volunteer / revenue share position, meaning there is no immediate payment or upfront salary. Compensation would come later only if the project generates revenue.

Role Description This full-time remote role for a 3D Animator/Rigger (Unity) involves creating high-quality character and creature animations that support realistic, immersive gameplay. Day-to-day tasks include building and maintaining rigs for characters and props, integrating motion capture data, and refining animation to align with the game’s visual style and mechanics. The role requires close collaboration with designers, artists, and developers to ensure animations work seamlessly in Unity, including troubleshooting skinning, weighting, and deformation issues. The 3D Animator/Rigger will also optimize assets for performance, contribute to animation pipelines and tools, and help maintain consistency and quality across all animated content.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Rigging and 3D Animation, with the ability to create flexible, production-ready character and creature rigs.
Experience with Animation principles and Motion Capture workflows, including cleaning, retargeting, and blending mocap data.
Proficiency using Blender for modeling, rigging, and animation, or similar 3D software with willingness to adapt to Blender.
Hands-on experience integrating animation assets into Unity, including setting up animation controllers, state machines, and blend trees.
Solid understanding of anatomy, weight painting, skinning, and deformation for realistic characters.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while communicating clearly with cross-functional teams.
Portfolio or reel demonstrating game-ready animations and rigs, ideally for realistic or immersive titles.
Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and collaborative game development workflows.
Nice to have: experience with procedural animation, physics-driven animation, or facial animation systems.
