Auditor - HOA & Nonprofit (Yellow Book), Remote California, Contract

About us
PacificWestTax is a licensed California CPA firm (#8815) in Newport Beach. Most of our attest work is audits and reviews for homeowners associations and nonprofits across California. We also do tax planning and preparation for real estate investors and business owners. Engagements are performed under AICPA and Government Auditing Standards, and the firm is enrolled in the AICPA peer review program.
The job
We need an experienced auditor to take engagements from planning through the report. You'd work directly with me, the managing CPA. Part-time or contract, your choice. Fully remote within California. Once in a while you may need to visit a client site in Southern California, but that's rare.
What you'd be doing:
- Audits and reviews of HOAs (including Davis-Stirling 5305 reviews) and nonprofits
- Yellow Book engagements, including single audits under Uniform Guidance
- Workpapers, testing, drafting financial statements and reports
- Working with HOA boards, property managers, and nonprofit staff to get records and clear open items
- Hitting deadlines and keeping files in shape for review
What you need
- Real experience on Yellow Book (GAGAS) audits. This one's required.
- CPA preferred
- A few years of audit or review work at a CPA firm
- HOA or nonprofit experience is a big plus
- Based in California
- Able to work on your own and communicate clearly with clients
- A working home office
Helpful but not required: single audit experience, knowledge of Davis-Stirling, experience working with property management companies.
