Offshore ControllerRemote Contract RoleFocused Energy is hiring a Controller to support a portfolio of client engagements on a fractional basis.We work alongside growing businesses where the numbers need to become more than a monthly report. The Controller will own the accounting foundation, turn financial information into practical decisions, and help client teams improve the processes behind the numbers.What you will do
Lead the full accounting lifecycle across multiple clients, including A/R, A/P, general ledger, reconciliations, revenue recognition, and cost accounting.
Own accurate, timely month-end and year-end close processes; review financial statements and trial balances before delivery.
Build and maintain budgets, rolling forecasts, cash-flow models, and budget-to-actual analysis.
Turn financial results into clear recommendations for pricing, investment, working-capital, and operating decisions.
Strengthen internal controls, document workflows and SOPs, and improve close efficiency.
Guide accounting associates and client-side accounting teams.
Partner directly with client leadership in virtual meetings and communicate clearly about performance, risks, and decisions needed.
Support audit, tax, and other compliance requirements as needed.
What we are looking for
10+ years of combined accounting and finance experience, including at least 2 years as a Controller and 3 years in public accounting or consulting.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.
Experience supporting startups, high-growth companies, or complex SMB environments.
Comfort managing multiple client priorities in a remote, consulting-style role.
Strong cash-flow, forecasting, financial-modeling, and variance-analysis skills.
The ability to explain financial issues and recommendations clearly to non-financial leaders.
Experience leading or guiding accounting teams.
High ownership, sound judgment, discretion, and follow-through.
Preferred experience
CPA, CMA, MBA, or related advanced degree.
Experience with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Gusto, Xero, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.
Experience with SaaS, technology, VC/PE-backed, or other fast-scaling businesses.
Exposure to audit readiness, regulatory filings, or public-company reporting.
A record of improving processes rather than only maintaining them.

Hiring Process
Shortlisted candidates will complete a live, practical accounting exercise during a video interview. The exercise requires camera-on, full screen sharing and a discussion of the candidate's approch.
