About The Job

Position: Mechanical Engineer
Type: Contract
Compensation: $60–$90/hour
Location: Remote
Duration: 2 to 3 months
Commitment: 40 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
Evaluate the quality of mechanical engineering tasks and model outputs. Identify incorrect assumptions, missing constraints, and unsafe design choices.
Write clear instruction specs and produce reference solutions for mechanical engineering problems. Define tasks reflecting real-world engineering practices.
Design challenging tasks and evaluation sets in areas like mechanical design and thermal systems. Collaborate with the research team to build domain-specific tools.
Work with client researchers to maintain consistent standards. Translate engineering judgment into explicit, teachable criteria.
Provide precise, well-structured written feedback to improve AI model performance.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience in industry.
Genuine ownership of real engineering work, such as designing components or systems.
Fluency with engineering tools like SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, AutoCAD, ANSYS, Abaqus, or MATLAB.
Familiarity with standards like ASME, ASTM, ISO, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
Experience with large language models in professional work.
Compensation & Legal
W-2 employment with Cincinnatus LLC.
Hourly contractor, Paid weekly.
