Public Affairs Director

Role Description The Public Affairs Director is a part-time, remote role responsible for shaping and managing ERU LIBRARY’s external communications and stakeholder relationships. This position involves developing and implementing public affairs strategies, coordinating outreach with government and community stakeholders, and maintaining effective media relations. Day-to-day tasks include drafting and reviewing press releases, preparing briefing materials, monitoring relevant policy developments, and advising leadership on public positioning. The Public Affairs Director will collaborate closely with internal teams to align messaging with the organization’s mission and vision, and ensure consistent representation across all public platforms.
Qualifications
Strong experience in government relations and governmental affairs, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with public sector stakeholders.
Demonstrated expertise in public affairs and media relations, including managing public image and coordinating communications with external audiences.
Proficiency in drafting and overseeing press releases, statements, and other formal communications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Proven ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Experience in education, nonprofit, or community-focused organizations is beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful engagement with diverse communities.
