About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
We’re building a broadband Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy (SRS) platform for molecular analysis of human serum.
We’re now at a stage where the key question is no longer “does the physics work?”, it’s:
How much disease-relevant molecular information can we actually recover from serum using an optical measurement?
To answer this, we’re planning a large in-matrix spike study with ~300 analytes across concentration ranges.
We’re looking for someone to help us design and execute the study and make sense of the resulting data.
What you’ll do
-Design the spike-recovery experiments and concentration matrices
-Decide how analytes should be grouped and measured
-Plan controls, replicates and validation experiments
-Generate and organize a large experimental dataset
-Analyse spectral response, effective rank and molecular degeneracy
-Evaluate detection limits and analyte recoverability
-Test whether measurements are additive and identify experimental confounds
-Compare the information gained from different measurement modalities
A large part of the work is careful experimental design and data generation. The rest is making sure the data actually answer the question we set out to investigate.
Who we’re looking for
Someone from analytical chemistry, chemometrics, clinical chemistry, metabolomics, spectroscopy, or a related field.
You should enjoy designing experiments, working with messy real-world data, and thinking carefully about what an experiment can actually tell us.
