About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Plant Head – Operations to lead the complete manufacturing operations of our plant in Rajkot.
The role will have end-to-end ownership of Production, Supply Chain, Maintenance, OPEX, Quality, Safety and operational excellence, with a strong focus on productivity, cost optimization, capacity building and business growth.
The ideal candidate will be a strong manufacturing leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and build a high-performance manufacturing organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Plant Operations
Own overall plant performance across Production, Supply Chain, Maintenance, OPEX and Safety.
Drive plant performance against agreed cost, quality, productivity, delivery and efficiency KPIs.
Ensure smooth and efficient utilization of manpower, machinery, materials and infrastructure.
2. Manufacturing Strategy & Operational Excellence
Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with business objectives.
Improve productivity, throughput, capacity utilization and manufacturing efficiency.
Identify and implement initiatives for continuous improvement, cost reduction and process optimization.
Establish a culture of accountability, operational discipline and data-driven decision-making.
3. Cost & OPEX Management
Take ownership of plant OPEX and manufacturing costs.
Identify opportunities for cost optimization, waste reduction and improved resource utilization.
Drive initiatives that improve margins without compromising quality or delivery.
4. Capacity & Export Growth
Develop strategies to expand manufacturing capacity in line with business growth.
Build the capabilities, processes and partnerships required to capitalize on export opportunities.
Drive manufacturing efficiency and competitiveness with the objective of strengthening India as an export hub.
5. Organization & Leadership
Design an effective organizational structure and manpower plan to support current and future growth.
Lead, mentor and develop senior functional teams.
Build a high-performance culture with clear ownership, accountability and measurable KPIs.
Develop future leaders and strengthen the plant's leadership pipeline.
6. Stakeholder Management
Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, business partners, government authorities and other external stakeholders.
Work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to achieve overall business objectives.
7. Quality, EHS & Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to Environmental, Health & Safety, Quality and statutory requirements.
Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable manufacturing standards.
Evaluate emerging environmental and sustainability requirements and incorporate them into future operating strategies.
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical / Production Engineering.
Additional Business Management / MBA qualification from a reputed institution will be preferred.
20+ years of overall experience, with a minimum of 5 years in an independent Plant Head / senior manufacturing leadership role.
Proven experience in managing end-to-end manufacturing operations.
Experience in capital goods / heavy engineering / engineered products is preferred.
Experience involving significant fabrication and manufacturing for the process industry will be an advantage.
Strong understanding of production planning, supply chain, maintenance, cost management, quality, safety and operational excellence.
Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable improvements in productivity, cost, capacity and operational performance.
