Role Description The General Manager role at IPRCL is a full-time, on-site position based in New Delhi. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end project delivery, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and monitoring of rail and ropeway infrastructure initiatives. This role involves leading cross-functional teams, coordinating with government bodies, port authorities, contractors, and consultants, and ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The General Manager will review technical and financial proposals, manage contracts, address operational challenges, and implement risk mitigation measures to keep projects on track. In addition, the role includes contributing to strategic planning, policy formulation, process improvement, and reporting to senior leadership on project performance and organizational goals.
Qualifications
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams and fostering collaborative work environments.
Proven project management and operations experience, preferably in infrastructure, rail, transport, logistics, or related sectors.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities for working with government agencies, partners, and vendors.
Sound understanding of contracts, budgets, compliance, and risk management, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Relevant educational background such as a bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or a related field; a postgraduate degree (e.g., MBA or equivalent) is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to handle complex, long-term projects and to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and safety standards applicable to infrastructure and transport projects.
