CCL focuses on accurate and reliable diagnostics, timely reporting, patient-centered service, and strong quality and safety practices.
Role Description
We are looking for an experienced Technical & Laboratory Operations Manager for a full-time, on-site position at our diagnostic laboratory in Mansa.
The role will be responsible for overseeing daily laboratory operations, technical workflows, equipment utilization, quality systems, and coordination of technical staff to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely test results.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on laboratory knowledge, excellent troubleshooting abilities, leadership skills, and comprehensive understanding of diagnostic laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily laboratory operations and technical workflows.
- Supervise sample processing, testing, reporting, and turnaround time.
- Lead, train, and mentor laboratory technicians and technical staff.
- Ensure proper operation, maintenance, servicing, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Strong hands-on expertise in microscopy and microscopic examination.
- Oversee slide preparation, staining, microscopy, and related examination workflows.
- Implement and monitor Quality Control (QC) procedures and quality indicators.
- Support method verification/validation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety, SOPs, documentation, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Manage staff scheduling, workload allocation, inventory, and laboratory resources.
- Troubleshoot technical and instrument-related issues and coordinate servicing when required.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and management teams.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of laboratory services and operational standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/B.Sc. MLT/M.Sc. MLT), Clinical Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory, preferably in a supervisory or managerial position.
- Strong practical knowledge of laboratory testing, sample handling, microscopy, staining, and slide examination.
- Good understanding of laboratory equipment, basic maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Quality Control, SOPs, documentation, laboratory safety, and biosafety.
- Ability to manage laboratory workflow, staff, inventory, and operational requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, training, and team-management skills.
- Familiarity with LIS, laboratory documentation, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Candidates with strong microscopy and multi-disciplinary laboratory experience will be preferred.
