Role Description The Radiology Coder and QA role is a full-time position based in Chennai with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing a combination of onsite and work-from-home flexibility. In this role, the professional reviews radiology reports and assigns appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in line with current coding standards and payer guidelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include validating the accuracy and completeness of coded records, performing quality audits, and identifying trends or errors that require corrective action. The role also involves collaborating with clinical staff and internal teams to clarify documentation, improve coding workflows, and support training initiatives. The Radiology Coder and QA is expected to meet productivity and quality benchmarks while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with applicable regulations.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of radiology coding guidelines, including CPT, ICD, and HCPCS, and the ability to apply them accurately.
Experience performing quality assurance reviews on coded records and providing constructive feedback to improve accuracy.
Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and radiology procedures relevant to diagnostic and interventional imaging.
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, coding software, and standard office productivity tools.
Relevant certification such as CPC, COC, or equivalent coding credential, or willingness to obtain certification within a defined timeframe.
Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to interpret clinical documentation and resolve discrepancies.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet productivity and quality targets in a hybrid work environment.
Previous experience in radiology coding or medical coding in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Diploma or degree in a health sciences, allied health, or related field is beneficial.
