AI & Data Strategist -WFH

## About the Role
The City of Munich is seeking an IT Strategist for AI and Data (m/f/d) to help develop its artificial intelligence and data strategy and support the digital transformation of city administration. The role focuses on evaluating AI technologies, developing strategic roadmaps, supporting AI governance and compliance, and promoting effective use of AI and data across the organization.
Full-time and part-time positions are available. This is a permanent position with the option to work from home.
## Key Responsibilities
* Further develop and optimize the City of Munich’s AI strategy.
* Analyze current AI trends and evaluate their suitability for administrative processes and citizen services.
* Work with the IT architecture team to evaluate emerging technologies.
* Develop and expand strategic roadmaps for implementing AI solutions.
* Address regulatory questions related to AI and support compliance, data protection, and security requirements.
* Optimize internal processes related to AI governance and responsible technology use.
* Support AI and data knowledge transfer through training sessions, workshops, and presentations.
* Promote competent use of AI and data within city administration.
* Contribute to a modern digital culture and innovation across the organization.
* Support strategic initiatives involving AI, data technologies, governance, and digital transformation.
* Undertake frequent business travel, including occasional multi-day trips.
* Work occasionally on weekends when required.
## Required Qualifications
Candidates should meet one of the following qualification pathways:
* Successfully completed Modular Qualification for positions starting at A14 (MQ4), or
* Career qualification for the third qualification level of the specialized career track in Natural Sciences and Technology, with a focus on administrative informatics, confirmed in the most recent periodic evaluation, or
* Career qualification for the third qualification level of the specialized career track in Administration and Finance, with confirmation in the most recent periodic evaluation, or
* Successfully completed master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable field, or
* Successfully completed master’s degree plus extensive relevant professional experience, with at least 3 years of experience in the IT sector involving the rollout of AI and data strategies or processes for complex environments.
Additional requirements include:
* Expertise in strategy development.
* Knowledge of AI and data technologies.
* Knowledge of AI governance, including the EU AI Act / AI Regulation and GDPR.
* Ability to develop or contribute to guidelines related to AI governance.
* German language proficiency at B2 level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), where applicable supported by a certificate.
* Results-oriented and goal-oriented approach.
* Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities.
* Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

## Education & Experience
* Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable field is one qualifying pathway.
* A master’s degree combined with at least 3 years of relevant IT professional experience involving AI and data strategies or processes for complex environments is another qualifying pathway.
* Public-sector career qualification and modular qualification pathways are also accepted as specified above.
