Role Description As a Shopify Developer Intern at Rooster Commerce, you will support the development and maintenance of Shopify stores for international clients in a full-time, remote capacity. You will assist in building, customizing, and testing Shopify themes, implementing UI changes, and troubleshooting front-end issues. Day-to-day tasks will include working with HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript, helping integrate apps, optimizing pages for performance, and ensuring responsive design across devices. You will collaborate closely with senior developers, designers, and project managers, participate in code reviews, and follow best practices for version control and documentation. The role offers mentorship, exposure to real client projects, and opportunities to learn modern e-commerce development workflows.
Qualifications
Foundational front-end development skills, including HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript.
Awareness of Shopify themes, Liquid templating, and e-commerce best practices (coursework or self-study is acceptable).
Understanding of responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility.
Familiarity with version control tools such as Git and platforms like GitHub or GitLab.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when testing and debugging.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a remote team environment.
Motivation to learn, openness to feedback, and interest in building a career in Shopify and e-commerce development.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or recognized program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
