Role Description The OT Technician role at Charnok Hospital is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Kolkata Area. The OT Technician supports surgical teams by preparing operating theatres, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready for procedures, and assisting during surgeries as directed by surgeons and nurses. Daily tasks include maintaining OT cleanliness and safety, checking and arranging supplies, and adhering to infection control protocols and hospital guidelines. The role also involves accurate documentation of procedures, instrument counts, and assisting in the transfer of patients to and from the operating theatre. The OT Technician collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other staff to ensure efficient, safe, and timely surgical operations.
Qualifications
Formal training or certification as an OT Technician, Operating Theatre Assistant, or equivalent paramedical qualification.
Knowledge of operating theatre procedures, sterile techniques, and infection control practices.
Ability to prepare, arrange, and handle surgical instruments and equipment safely and efficiently.
Basic understanding of surgical specialties, anesthesia procedures, and OT protocols.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow clinical instructions accurately.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Physical ability to stand for long periods and assist with patient positioning and transfers.
Prior experience in an operating theatre or hospital setting is preferred but not mandatory.
Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by hospital operations.
