The Role
We are seeking an experienced Management Reporting Manager to lead the development, governance, production, and continuous improvement of management reporting and business performance information.
The ideal candidate will ensure that leadership receives accurate, timely, consistent, and insightful reporting on financial and operational performance. This role will transform complex business data into clear management information, identify performance trends and variances, and support leadership with actionable analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement management reporting strategies, standards, processes, and governance frameworks.
Lead the end-to-end management reporting cycle across financial and operational functions.
Establish reporting calendars, deadlines, responsibilities, review processes, and approval workflows.
Develop standardized management reports, executive dashboards, scorecards, and performance packs.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc management reporting for senior leadership.
Consolidate financial, operational, commercial, workforce, customer, and strategic performance information.
Ensure management reports are accurate, complete, consistent, and delivered within agreed timelines.
Review financial and operational results and identify significant variances, trends, risks, and performance gaps.
Conduct variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, prior periods, targets, and business plans.
Investigate drivers behind revenue, cost, margin, productivity, working-capital, and operational performance changes.
Translate complex data into concise management insights and actionable recommendations.
Develop executive-level reporting that clearly communicates key business performance drivers.
Coordinate with Finance teams to ensure alignment between management reporting and financial reporting.
Work with business functions to validate operational data and investigate reporting discrepancies.
Establish common definitions, calculation methodologies, reporting standards, and KPI ownership.
Develop and maintain KPI frameworks aligned with organizational strategy and business objectives.
Define reporting requirements in collaboration with senior management and functional leaders.
Develop dashboards covering financial, commercial, operational, customer, workforce, and strategic indicators.
Monitor actual performance against KPIs, targets, budgets, forecasts, and strategic objectives.
Establish early-warning indicators for significant performance deviations and emerging risks.
Develop management reporting templates and automate repetitive reporting activities where appropriate.
Improve reporting processes to reduce manual effort, duplication, errors, and reporting cycle times.
Establish robust data validation, reconciliation, and quality-control procedures.
Perform reconciliations between reporting systems, financial systems, operational databases, and source information.
Investigate data inconsistencies and coordinate corrective actions with data owners and system teams.
Maintain reporting documentation, definitions, data sources, calculation logic, and process controls.
Ensure appropriate version control and governance of management reporting outputs.
Support annual budgeting, business planning, forecasting, and strategic planning processes with relevant reporting.
Provide management information to support resource allocation, investment decisions, cost management, and business planning.
Prepare scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis to support management decision-making.
Develop business performance analyses for new initiatives, investments, projects, and strategic programs.
Monitor business-unit performance and provide comparative analysis across regions, departments, products, customers, or channels where relevant.
Identify underperforming areas and support management in developing corrective action plans.
Track management actions arising from performance reviews and ensure follow-up reporting.
Support executive meetings with performance packs, briefing materials, dashboards, and analytical insights.
Coordinate management reporting inputs from multiple departments and ensure timely submissions.
Challenge inconsistent assumptions, unexplained variances, and unsupported performance information.
Partner with Business Intelligence and Technology teams to improve reporting infrastructure and data accessibility.
Define requirements for BI dashboards, reporting tools, data models, and automated reporting solutions.
Support integration of ERP, financial, operational, CRM, HR, and other enterprise data sources.
Promote the use of self-service analytics while maintaining appropriate reporting governance and data quality.
Evaluate opportunities to use automation, AI, advanced analytics, and predictive reporting to improve management information.
Develop reporting controls to protect data integrity, confidentiality, and appropriate access.
Ensure management reporting processes comply with internal policies, financial controls, and applicable governance requirements.
Manage external consultants, reporting specialists, technology providers, and other service partners where required.
Establish service-level expectations and performance standards for reporting delivery.
Train reporting teams and business users on reporting standards, KPI definitions, dashboards, and analytical practices.
Conduct regular reviews of reporting effectiveness and eliminate reports that provide limited management value.
Benchmark reporting practices and identify opportunities to improve management information quality.
Provide leadership with recommendations for improving reporting, performance management, and decision support.

The successful candidate should have strong experience in management reporting, financial reporting, business performance management, FP&A, business intelligence, management information, or corporate performance analysis, preferably within a complex or international organization.
