Role Description The Traveling Superintendent role is a full-time, remote position that requires regular travel to project sites. This role oversees day-to-day field operations, including coordinating subcontractors, monitoring schedules, and ensuring work is completed according to plans, specifications, and quality standards. The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for enforcing safety protocols, conducting site inspections, and maintaining accurate documentation of project progress and issues. This position collaborates closely with project managers, clients, and vendors to resolve challenges, manage resources, and keep projects on track. The role also involves reporting on timelines and milestones, facilitating site meetings, and supporting a culture of clear communication and accountability.
Qualifications
Experience supervising construction or field operations, with the ability to manage schedules, coordinate trades, and oversee daily site activities.
Knowledge of construction methods, building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards relevant to commercial or industrial projects.
Strong organizational and documentation skills, including the ability to maintain logs, reports, and records of project progress and issues.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Ability and willingness to travel frequently, work remotely, and adapt to changing project locations and conditions.
Proficiency with basic digital tools (email, project management software, mobile apps) for reporting, scheduling, and communication.
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including experience implementing and enforcing safety plans and procedures.
Prior experience as a superintendent, foreperson, or similar field leadership role; relevant certifications or licenses are a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent required; a technical certificate or degree in construction management or a related field is beneficial.
