This internship provides practical exposure to medical billing workflows through supervised assignments involving patient and insurance information review, claim preparation, billing documentation, claim-status tracking, payment posting concepts, and basic revenue-cycle activities.
Key responsibilities
• Review assigned healthcare documentation and billing information for completeness.
• Assist with preparing and organizing medical billing records.
• Learn basic medical billing and revenue-cycle workflows.
• Assist with reviewing patient and insurance information under supervision.
• Practice identifying relevant billing information from assigned documentation.
• Support claim preparation and submission workflows under appropriate guidance.
• Assist with reviewing claim information for missing or inconsistent details.
• Track assigned claim statuses and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with basic payment and adjustment documentation.
• Maintain billing trackers, worksheets, and related reports.
• Research basic billing terminology and payer-related information when required.
• Document billing questions and escalate unclear cases to the appropriate reviewer.
• Follow established billing procedures and confidentiality requirements.
• Assist with basic denial and claim-follow-up documentation.
• Support other healthcare revenue-cycle activities as assigned.
