Role Description The (Regional Managing Director) is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing Baobab Ventures’ activities within a specific geographic region. This role includes identifying and evaluating deep-tech investment opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with founders, ecosystem partners, and co-investors, and driving the regional pipeline of pre-seed and seed-stage deals. The Regional Managing Director will support portfolio companies with GTM planning, customer introductions, and product feedback, while ensuring alignment with the fund’s overall investment thesis and performance goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include market research, deal sourcing, conducting due diligence, representing Baobab Ventures at regional events, and coordinating closely with the global investment and operations teams.
Qualifications
Strong background in venture capital, private equity, corporate innovation, or entrepreneurship, with experience in early-stage investments or building startups.
Proven ability to manage a geographic region, including market analysis, stakeholder engagement, and development of local networks within tech and startup ecosystems.
Demonstrated skills in financial analysis, due diligence, and evaluating deep-tech business models and technologies.
Experience supporting founders with go-to-market strategy, customer development, and product positioning in global or regional markets.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, distributed team environment.
Fluency in English; proficiency in additional regional languages is an advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees (MBA, MS, etc.) are preferred but not required.
High level of integrity, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to fostering inclusive, non-discriminatory practices in investment and team interactions.
