About The Role
At Boeing, we are seeking an Application Software Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join our Phantom Works Weapons team based in St. Charles, MO, within the St. Louis area. This role supports critical future weapons programs, including the Next Generation Cruise Missile project. As part of this innovative team, you will work on developing high-impact software solutions that integrate across multiple stakeholders and systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation defense capabilities, emphasizing rapid prototyping, safety, security, and reliability in operational environments.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in software development, a passion for solving complex problems, and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams. This role requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access, reflecting the classified nature of the work and the high level of security compliance involved.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, along with relevant professional experience. For Associate level, a minimum of 2 years of related work experience is preferred, while the Experienced level requires at least 5 years of experience. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, and C#, and have experience working in Linux environments. Knowledge of version control systems like Git, software architecture development, network communication protocols (TCP/UDP), and familiarity with open architectures are highly desirable.
An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required, and candidates must be U.S. citizens. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with software development tools, understanding of software validation and verification processes, and familiarity with domain-specific constraints related to aerospace and defense systems. Candidates with a comprehensive understanding of software design methodologies and the ability to troubleshoot complex software components will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software throughout its lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry, safety, and regulatory standards.
Translate customer requirements into initial software design and architecture, ensuring alignment with project goals.
Develop interface definitions and perform unit and integration testing to validate software functionality.
Participate in peer reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
Support software system integration, testing, and troubleshooting efforts to ensure seamless operation across platforms.
Create comprehensive software documentation to facilitate future maintenance and upgrades.
