Role Description The General Manager role is a full-time, remote position responsible for leading a major business unit or product line within Coinbase. This role oversees end-to-end strategy, including market positioning, product roadmap alignment, operational performance, and financial outcomes. The General Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams such as product, engineering, marketing, operations, and compliance to ensure consistent execution against business goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting measurable objectives, monitoring key performance indicators, optimizing processes, managing budgets, and making data-informed decisions about growth and risk. The role also involves mentoring leaders, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture, and representing the business unit in executive-level discussions and external stakeholder engagements.
Qualifications
Proven experience in senior leadership or general management roles, preferably in technology, fintech, or financial services.
Strong strategic planning and business ownership capabilities, including setting vision, defining goals, and driving execution.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop cross-functional teams in a remote, distributed environment.
Comfort with data analysis, financial modeling, and using metrics to inform decision-making.
Understanding of digital assets, crypto markets, or capital markets; experience in highly regulated industries is beneficial.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at executive and board levels.
Track record of building scalable processes and improving operational efficiency across complex organizations.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is a plus.
