Project Description Hiring for Narrative Driven First Person Shooter project called "Lost Time" - which will combine elements seen in popular first person shooters such as Half-Life 2 and Bioshock. We're looking to build a small core team to develop an engaging prototype of the opening level of the game. I want to be clear that this is an unpaid collaboration, with the potential to grow into something more. But I don't want to make guarantees here.
Company Description Reese Kincaid Pictures is an entertainment company founded and owned by director and producer Ethan Reese Jones. The company focuses on developing and producing original film and media projects with a strong emphasis on storytelling and visual style. This environment offers aspiring game designers an opportunity to engage with narrative-driven projects influenced by film production values and industry insight.
Role Description This is an unpaid, part-time, remote role for a Game Designer working on a narrative first person shooter (FPS) project. The Game Designer will collaborate with the creative team to develop core gameplay mechanics, define game rules, and refine player experience for consoles and mobile platforms.
Daily tasks may include creating and iterating on level designs, drafting design documentation, balancing difficulty and progression, and integrating feedback from play testing. The role involves close coordination with developers and artists to ensure that design concepts are feasible, coherent, and aligned with the project’s visual and narrative direction. The Game Designer is expected to participate in virtual meetings, meet agreed deadlines, and contribute ideas that improve the overall quality of the FPS project.
Qualifications
Unreal Engine 5 Experience is a must.
Candidates should possess skills in Game Design and Level Design, with the ability to create engaging, balanced FPS experiences.
Candidates should possess skills in Game Development, including familiarity with common game engines and tools used for FPS projects.
Candidates should possess knowledge of game design considerations, including controls, performance, and user experience.
Understanding of first person shooter mechanics and player progression.
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently in a remote team, and openness to feedback and iteration are important.
Prior experience in game projects (professional, academic, or personal) and a portfolio or samples of design work are highly beneficial.
