Role Description The Geriatrician will provide comprehensive, patient-centered medical care to older adults, with a focus on those undergoing cancer treatment or living with complex comorbidities. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting outpatient and inpatient assessments, developing individualized care plans, managing chronic conditions, optimizing medications, and coordinating care with oncology, nursing, rehabilitation, and palliative care teams. The role involves participating in multidisciplinary case discussions, counseling patients and families, and contributing to protocols that improve functional status and quality of life for older patients. The Geriatrician may also engage in teaching, clinical audits, and research activities related to geriatric oncology. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kozhikode.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in Primary Care and Geriatrics to manage complex health needs of older adults.
Solid foundation in Medicine and Gerontology to address age-related physiological, psychological, and social issues.
Specialized training and experience in Geriatric Medicine, preferably in an oncology or tertiary care setting.
Recognized medical degree (MBBS) with postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine or Geriatric Medicine; valid medical registration as per Indian regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
Experience in comprehensive geriatric assessment, polypharmacy management, and end-of-life care planning is highly beneficial.
