The CFO is responsible for the financial health, cash flow, financial controls, planning, reporting, risk management and financial strategy of the organization. The CFO acts as the key financial advisor to the Managing Director/Promoters and ensures that business decisions are supported by accurate financial information.
1. Core Job Roles & Duties Role / Area Key Duties Financial Planning & Strategy Cash Flow & Treasury Prepare annual budgets, business plans, financial forecasts and long-term financial strategy. Evaluate the financial impact of major business decisions. Monitor daily/weekly cash position, collections, payments, bank balances and liquidity. Maintain adequate working capital and optimize cash utilization. MIS & Management Reporting Budgeting & Cost Control Prepare monthly P&L;, balance sheet, cash-flow statements, MIS dashboards, variance reports and management reports with clear explanations of financial performance. Set departmental budgets, monitor actual spending against budgets, investigate variances and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs. Working Capital Management Banking & Financing Control inventory, receivables, payables and cash conversion cycle. Establish collection and payment policies to maintain healthy liquidity. Provide the MD/Promoters with financial analysis, scenarios, profitability insights and recommendations for strategic decisions. Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions. Handle working-capital limits, term loans, LC/BG facilities, interest costs, refinancing and funding requirements. Accounting Oversight Taxation Supervise accounting operations, monthly closing, reconciliations, ledger accuracy and timely financial statements. Coordinate GST, TDS, income-tax compliance, tax planning, assessments and external tax advisors. Ensure timely filing and reconciliation. Audit & Compliance Internal Controls Coordinate statutory, internal and financial audits. Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and accounting standards. Design controls for purchasing, sales, inventory, cash, payments and approvals. Prevent errors, fraud and unauthorized transactions through segregation of duties. Investment & Project Analysis Risk Management Evaluate new projects using ROI, IRR, payback, break-even, cash-flow and sensitivity analysis. Recommend funding structures based on financial feasibility. Identify liquidity, credit, fraud, market, operational and financial risks and establish controls and mitigation plans. Business Advisory
