Role Description The Area Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing collections operations within an assigned region, ensuring timely recovery of dues while maintaining a customer-centric approach. This full-time, on-site role is based in Mumbai and involves managing field and tele-collection teams, setting performance targets, and monitoring daily collection activities. The role includes analyzing portfolio performance, identifying delinquency trends, and implementing strategies to improve recovery rates and reduce non-performing assets. The Area Collections Manager collaborates closely with risk, operations, customer support, and finance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policies, and to continuously improve collection processes. The position also involves preparing regular performance reports, training team members on best practices, and handling escalated cases with tact, fairness, and compliance.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in collections management, credit control, or recovery operations, ideally in banking, NBFCs, or fintech environments.
Strong people management skills, including team leadership, performance monitoring, coaching, and conflict resolution.
Ability to analyze collection data, track KPIs, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies.
Sound understanding of consumer lending practices, collection processes, and relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle complex or escalated customer situations professionally.
Proficiency with spreadsheets, reporting tools, and basic collection/CRM systems to manage workflows and track outcomes.
High level of integrity, accountability, and problem-solving ability, with a focus on ethical and non-discriminatory practices.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field; advanced qualifications or certifications in credit or collections are an advantage.
Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth organizations and comfort with evolving processes and performance goals.
