Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Hyderabad for a Senior Executive – Port Operations, Shipping, and Customs, responsible for managing the complete operations of the company’s global bulk commodity trading activities. The role involves planning and supervising port operations, including vessel berthing, cargo discharge/loading, stock management, and coordination with port authorities, stevedores, and surveyors. The senior executive will oversee end-to-end shipping operations such as chartering coordination, documentation, tracking vessel schedules, and ensuring adherence to contractual terms and safety standards. Daily responsibilities include managing customs clearance processes, preparing and reviewing documentation, coordinating with customs agents, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The role also requires close collaboration with internal trading, finance, and logistics teams to optimize turnaround times, control operational costs, resolve issues proactively, and maintain accurate operational reports and MIS for management. The individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives in operations, maintain strong vendor and stakeholder relationships, and support risk mitigation across ports, shipping, and customs.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in port operations management, including vessel handling, cargo operations, warehousing/stock management, and coordination with port and terminal authorities.
Hands-on experience in international shipping operations, covering charter party understanding, vessel scheduling, documentation, and coordination with shipping lines, agents, and surveyors.
In-depth knowledge of customs processes and regulations, including preparation and review of import/export documentation, coordination with customs brokers, and compliance with local and international trade laws.
Proven experience in bulk commodity or raw materials trading operations, with ability to manage high-volume cargo movements and optimize logistics costs and turnaround times.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle operational contingencies, negotiate with stakeholders, and make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams, external partners, and government authorities, and to build collaborative, long-term relationships.
Proficiency in MS Office and operational reporting/MIS, with attention to detail in tracking cargo movements, costs, and compliance-related information.
