Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our Integration team and take ownership of the quality and reliability of integrations between our platform and various ERPs, CRMs, payroll systems, and third-party applications.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in API testing, backend testing, database validation, integration testing, and test automation. You will work closely with Developers, Product Managers, and Integration Engineers to identify issues early and ensure reliable data synchronization across systems.
Key Responsibilities
Understand integration requirements, workflows, business rules, and data mappings across different systems.
Design and execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end test cases.
Perform extensive REST API testing using tools such as Postman or similar tools.
Validate request/response payloads, HTTP status codes, authentication, error handling, pagination, rate limits, and edge cases.
Validate data synchronization between Lumber and external systems/ERPs.
Perform database validation using SQL to verify data accuracy and consistency.
Test various integration scenarios including:
Entities Synchronisation
Data mapping and configuration
Error handling and retry mechanisms
Participate in release testing and provide QA sign-off.
Identify repetitive manual testing scenarios and convert them into automated test cases.
Contribute to building and maintaining an API/integration automation framework.
Monitor integration behavior in QA/staging environments and help identify data inconsistencies.
Create and maintain test documentation, test plans, test cases, and regression suites.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve overall product quality and testing processes.
Required Skills & Experience
2–5 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance / Testing.
Strong experience in API testing, preferably REST APIs.
Good understanding of JSON, HTTP methods, status codes, authentication, headers, and API workflows.
Hands-on experience with Postman or similar API testing tools.
Strong SQL/database testing skills.
Experience testing backend systems and integrations.
Good understanding of software testing methodologies and SDLC/STLC.
Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira.
Good understanding of functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.
Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot complex integration issues.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good understanding of data mapping and synchronization concepts.
Basic understanding of automation testing and willingness to expand automation coverage.
Good to Have
Experience with API automation using Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
Experience with automation frameworks such as Rest Assured, Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar.
Experience working with ERP/CRM integrations.
Experience with systems such as Sage Intacct, Acumatica, Workday, QuickBooks, or similar enterprise applications.
Experience testing webhooks, Kafka/event-driven systems, asynchronous processing, and retry mechanisms.
Experience with CI/CD tools and integrating automated tests into pipelines.
Experience with performance/load testing tools such as JMeter or similar.
Understanding of cloud-based applications and microservices architecture.
