Assistant Financial Controller

Role Description The Assistant Financial Controller is a full-time remote role responsible for supporting the university’s financial management and reporting activities. This position assists in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance with policies, and adherence to relevant regulations. The role includes monitoring budgets, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, reconciling accounts, and assisting with internal and external audits. The Assistant Financial Controller collaborates with finance and academic units to provide financial insights, improve processes, and support strategic decision-making. The position also involves preparing management reports, maintaining financial records, and contributing to continuous improvement in financial controls and systems.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Accounting and Finance, with the ability to apply principles to a complex institutional environment.
Experience in preparing and reviewing Financial Statements and Financial Reporting in accordance with applicable standards.
Well-developed Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support data-driven decisions.
Proficiency with financial systems and tools (e.g., ERP software, spreadsheets) and familiarity with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is preferred.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a remote work setting.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in higher education, healthcare, or large non-profit organizations is an advantage.
