About the Role
Valar Atomics is seeking an accomplished and strategic Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the company’s investment strategy, capital allocation, financial evaluation, and long-term investment initiatives.
This executive leadership role will be responsible for developing and executing an investment framework aligned with Valar Atomics’ long-term growth objectives. The CIO will evaluate strategic investment opportunities, oversee investment-related due diligence, assess financial and market risks, and work closely with executive leadership on major capital and corporate development decisions.
The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of experience across investment management, private equity, venture capital, infrastructure investing, investment banking, corporate development, or related financial disciplines, with demonstrated experience evaluating complex and capital-intensive opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead the company’s overall investment and capital allocation strategy.
Identify, evaluate, and prioritize strategic investment opportunities aligned with long-term corporate objectives.
Lead financial modeling, valuation, investment analysis, and risk assessment.
Oversee investment due diligence and present recommendations to executive leadership.
Evaluate opportunities across energy, infrastructure, advanced technology, and related strategic markets.
Monitor portfolio performance and establish appropriate investment performance frameworks.
Assess market conditions, competitive dynamics, regulatory developments, and macroeconomic trends affecting investment decisions.
Partner with the CEO and senior leadership on capital strategy, corporate development, partnerships, and long-term growth initiatives.
Build relationships with institutional investors, financial institutions, strategic partners, advisors, and other capital-market participants.
Establish rigorous investment governance, reporting, and risk-management processes.
Support fundraising, financing, and strategic transaction initiatives when required.
Provide executive-level investment insights to support major corporate decisions.
Qualifications
12+ years of relevant professional experience in investment management, private equity, venture capital, infrastructure investing, investment banking, corporate development, or a related field.
Significant experience evaluating large-scale or complex investment opportunities.
Strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, portfolio analysis, and capital allocation.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate investment opportunities from both financial and strategic perspectives.
Strong understanding of capital markets, investment structures, risk management, and corporate finance.
Experience working with senior executives, investors, boards, and external financial partners.
Exceptional analytical, negotiation, communication, and executive decision-making skills.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline required.
MBA, CFA, or other relevant advanced qualification is preferred.
