Role Description This is a full-time remote Volunteer Research Assistant role supporting research and program development related to maternal and child health in Africa. The Volunteer Research Assistant will collect, review, and synthesize data from scientific literature, reports, and program documents, and help maintain organized datasets and research records. Daily tasks include conducting online research, supporting data analysis, preparing summaries and brief reports, and assisting with drafting materials for internal and external use. The role may also involve coordinating with team members across time zones, participating in virtual meetings, and contributing to documentation that informs program design, monitoring, and evaluation. The position is ideal for individuals seeking meaningful experience in global health research and nonprofit work.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Research and Analytical Skills to gather information, critically evaluate sources, and interpret findings.
Candidates should possess solid Data Analysis skills, including basic quantitative or qualitative analysis and familiarity with spreadsheets or statistical tools.
Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication for reports, summaries, and team collaboration.
Candidates should possess relevant Laboratory Skills if applicable to specific projects, such as handling data from clinical or field studies.
Candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
Candidates should be comfortable working independently, collaborating virtually with a diverse team, and showing initiative in problem-solving.
Background or coursework in public health, global health, social sciences, biology, or a related field is beneficial.
Prior experience with health-related research, NGOs, or maternal and child health projects is an advantage but not required.
