Company Description Gorilla Doctors is a conservation organization dedicated to keeping wild mountain and Grauer’s gorillas healthy through life-saving veterinary medicine and science. Since 1986, the team has used a One Health approach across five national parks in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, recognizing the interconnected health of wildlife, humans, and ecosystems. With just over 1,000 mountain gorillas remaining worldwide, Gorilla Doctors focuses on the health of each individual gorilla to support the survival of the species. In addition to direct healthcare, the organization leads collaborative international research on eastern gorilla population health trends and emerging infectious diseases that can affect both people and gorillas. Role Description The Donor Relations Manager is a full-time remote role responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and expanding relationships with individual donors, foundations, and other philanthropic partners. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing donor communications, responding to donor inquiries, and ensuring timely acknowledgments, receipts, and impact reports. The role oversees annual giving campaigns, supports major gift initiatives, and coordinates donor recognition activities and events in collaboration with development and communications colleagues. The Donor Relations Manager maintains accurate donor records, tracks engagement activities, and uses data to inform stewardship plans and fundraising strategies. This position also involves leading donor-focused projects, creating compelling fundraising materials, and collaborating across the organization to align donor messaging with programmatic priorities and conservation outcomes.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in donor-focused fundraising, including Annual Giving and Philanthropy.
Strong relationship-building skills with experience in Donor Relations and Donor Management.
Proven ability to plan, execute, and evaluate initiatives using effective Project Management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling donor messages and impact stories.
Comfort working remotely across time zones and cultures, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience with CRM or donor database systems and basic data analysis for fundraising purposes.
Background in nonprofit development, conservation, wildlife, public health, or related fields is highly beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or Conservation) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
