Vice President of Project Management
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and execution-focused Vice President of Project Management to lead the company's global Project Management organization and drive strategic initiatives, complex programs, project execution, and operational excellence.
The VP of Project Management will translate company strategy and business objectives into structured project portfolios, scalable execution frameworks, and measurable delivery outcomes. This executive will oversee Project Management, Program Management, Portfolio Management, PMO Governance, Resource Planning, Budget Management, Risk Management, and Project Performance.
The VP will work closely with Product, Engineering, Technology, Finance, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, and Executive Leadership to ensure strategic projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Management Strategy
Develop and execute the company's global Project Management strategy.
Establish project management methodologies, frameworks, processes, and standards.
Align project portfolios with corporate strategy and business priorities.
Establish project governance and decision-making frameworks.
Continuously improve project management maturity across the organization.
2. Strategic Project & Program Management
Lead strategic, complex, and high-impact projects and programs.
Define project scope, objectives, milestones, timelines, deliverables, and success criteria.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
Manage dependencies across projects, departments, and business units.
Monitor project progress and resolve critical delivery issues.
3. PMO Leadership & Governance
Lead and develop the company's Project Management Office (PMO).
Establish project governance, reporting, documentation, and review processes.
Standardize project planning, execution, and reporting practices.
Establish portfolio prioritization and project approval frameworks.
Provide executive-level visibility into project status, risks, and performance.
4. Resource & Budget Management
Develop project resource planning and capacity models.
Allocate resources based on strategic priorities and project requirements.
Oversee project budgets, forecasts, expenditures, and financial performance.
Optimize resource utilization and project investment.
Partner with Finance and business leaders on project financial planning.
5. Risk & Issue Management
Establish comprehensive project risk management frameworks.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project, operational, financial, and delivery risks.
Monitor critical issues, dependencies, and potential project delays.
Develop contingency and mitigation plans for high-impact risks.
Escalate critical risks and decisions to Executive Leadership when required.
6. Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with Product, Engineering, Technology, Operations, Finance, Sales, and Marketing.
Facilitate alignment between project teams and executive stakeholders.
Manage cross-functional dependencies and organizational priorities.
Communicate project objectives, progress, risks, and outcomes effectively.
Build strong collaboration across departments and business units.
7. Project Performance & Continuous Improvement
Establish and monitor project performance KPIs and OKRs.
Track project delivery, schedule, budget, quality, resource utilization, and business outcomes.
Identify opportunities to improve project execution and operational efficiency.
Implement best practices, lessons learned, and process improvements.
Develop executive dashboards and project performance reporting.
8. Team Leadership & Organizational Development
Build and scale a high-performing global Project Management organization.
Recruit, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Program Managers, PMO leaders, and project professionals.
Establish project management career paths and competency frameworks.
Develop leadership, succession planning, and performance management programs.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, execution excellence, and continuous improvement.
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
MBA or Master's degree preferred.
Experience
20+ years of progressive experience in Project Management, Program Management, Operations, or related functions.
10+ years of senior leadership experience managing project or program organizations.
Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional, and high-value projects.
Experience managing global or multi-regional project portfolios.
Strong experience with project governance, budgets, resources, timelines, and risk management.
Demonstrated experience building or scaling PMO organizations.
Proven ability to communicate with C-suite executives and senior stakeholders.
