Quality Assurance Engineer

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll ensure that the products powering our field operations, farmer engagement, and sustainability initiatives are reliable, intuitive, and scalable. You'll work across mobile and web applications used daily by farmers and field teams in environments with limited connectivity, varying device capabilities, and operational complexity.
Your work will directly impact how effectively farmers record cultivation activities, access financing, procure agricultural inputs, and participate in climate-smart farming programs. This isn't QA for a consumer app with millions of casual users. This is quality engineering for mission-critical software where reliability, usability, and performance matter in the field.
Responsibilities:
You'll join our Product and Engineering team as a QA Engineer working across our mobile and web platforms. You'll:
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to understand requirements and define testing strategies.
Design and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
Execute manual testing to validate features, workflows, and edge cases.
Develop and maintain automated test suites to improve test coverage and release confidence.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
Identify, document, and track defects while partnering with engineers to resolve issues.
Validate backend systems and data integrity through API and database testing.
Analyze test outcomes and communicate quality metrics and risks to stakeholders.
Continuously improve QA processes, tooling, and testing methodologies.
Advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience as a QA Engineer or Software Test Engineer.
Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
High attention to detail and a passion for building quality products.
Core Skills (Required): Test Design and Execution:
Strong experience in analyzing product requirements and identifying test scenarios.
Ability to create detailed and maintainable test cases and test plans.
Hands-on experience executing manual test cases and identifying defects.
Experience performing functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Defect Reporting and Communication:
Clear and concise in documenting bugs, test cases, and test results.
Experience using defect tracking and test management tools.
Ability to communicate findings effectively with developers, product managers, and stakeholders.
Automation Testing:
Familiarity with automation frameworks and testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
Experience writing and maintaining automated test scripts.
Understanding of automation strategies and test coverage best practices.
Backend and Database Testing:
Ability to write and execute SQL queries for data validation.
Experience testing REST APIs and validating backend workflows.
Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python is a plus.
Libraries and Tools You'll Use:
Selenium or similar UI automation frameworks.
JUnit, TestNG, or equivalent testing frameworks.
SQL databases for backend validation.
REST APIs and API testing tools.
Git and GitHub for version control
Test management and bug tracking systems.
CI/CD pipelines and automated testing workflows.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Experience testing React Native mobile applications.
Familiarity with ReactJS-based web applications.
Exposure to Java, Spring Boot, or backend systems.
Experience working with performance and load testing tools.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into deployment workflows.
Experience testing applications designed for low-connectivity or offline-first environments.
