About the Role
We're looking for a Lead Tech Developer & Project Manager to own technical development and project management for our apparel line, end to end. This is a hands-on ownership role: you'll run proto sample evaluation, write development timelines, manage supplier communication, and be the go-to point of contact for clients on technical/production questions — all while working closely with our Fit Specialist on fit and construction standards.
This role exists to build real apparel-industry expertise into how we manage tech development and production — not to import general project management practices from another industry.
What You'll Do
Own the proto sample evaluation process end to end for every style, every round: intake, measuring, checklist completion, tech pack/BOM updates, filing, and supplier communication.
Coordinate fit sessions with our Fit Specialist, translating fit/construction notes into corrected patterns, tech packs, and supplier communication.
Drive every proto round to a clear, documented decision — nothing quietly cycles without a call.
Track styles against a defined round limit, flagging any style that's struggling to pass before it becomes a bigger problem, and preparing options for leadership sign-off.
Run the production calendar across all styles and proto rounds concurrently — timelines, supplier deadlines, and handoffs between design, fit, and production.
Write full development timelines (T&A calendars) and lay out complete development plans for each style/season.
Review and mentor junior tech development work.
Manage day-to-day supplier/factory communication on technical and timeline questions.
Serve as the primary point of contact for customer service on technical development work across multiple client accounts.
What You'll Need
Hands-on apparel/fashion industry experience — tech packs, construction specs, grading, BOMs — not a general PM background looking to transfer in.
Track record managing multiple concurrent style/production timelines against firm supplier deadlines.
Comfortable as a working manager: reviewing and correcting a junior tech dev's work directly, not just assigning it.
Experience running an iterative sample/proto/QA cycle with documented pass/fail or revision criteria.
Strong, consistent documentation habits.
Direct experience communicating with overseas suppliers/factories on technical corrections and timelines.
Experience writing T&A calendars and full development timelines from scratch.
Client-facing experience — comfortable owning customer service for technical/production questions across multiple accounts.
Nice to Have
Prior experience mentoring or managing a junior designer/tech developer.
Patternmaking or grading background.
Familiarity with EOS or a similar operating system.
Experience in circular, sustainable, or small-batch apparel production specifically.
