Role Description The Student Pharmacist will work on-site at Government Hospital Chengam in Tiruvannamalai in a full-time capacity under the supervision of licensed pharmacists. Daily responsibilities include assisting in prescription processing, checking medication labels, and supporting the accurate dispensing of medicines to patients. The role involves participating in medication counseling, learning to provide basic drug information, and helping maintain pharmacy records, stock levels, and storage conditions. The Student Pharmacist will observe and support clinical pharmacy activities, such as reviewing medication charts, understanding drug interactions, and learning hospital formulary procedures. The position also includes collaborating with the healthcare team, following safety and infection control protocols, and engaging in ongoing training and academic-related assignments as required by the pharmacy program.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a recognized Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) program, with eligibility for hospital-based training or internship.
Foundational knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacy practice, and basic hospital pharmacy operations, with willingness to learn and apply clinical concepts.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with patients, pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
Ability to follow instructions carefully, pay attention to detail, and maintain accurate documentation related to prescriptions and inventory.
Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, confidentiality, and adherence to government healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
Basic computer literacy for handling electronic records, prescription systems, or inventory tools used in the hospital setting.
Ability to stand for extended periods, manage time effectively in a busy clinical environment, and adapt to shift-based schedules if required.
Prior exposure to community or hospital pharmacy settings, relevant coursework, or training in clinical pharmacy is an advantage but not mandatory.
