About The Role
The Database Manager (Senior) plays a critical role in supporting enterprise systems that underpin Joint Staff Command and Control (C2) operations. This senior-level position involves managing and maintaining complex database environments to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability across both production and contingency scenarios. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in database administration, ensuring that systems operate efficiently and securely in line with mission requirements.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility, along with a DoD IAT Level II certification. A minimum of 10 years of experience in database administration within enterprise environments is required. Proven experience managing large-scale, mission-critical database systems, especially in classified or DoD settings, is essential. Familiarity with various enterprise database platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server is highly preferred. Additional qualifications include strong knowledge of security protocols, backup and recovery procedures, and enterprise integration techniques.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise database systems tailored to support mission-critical operations.
Monitor and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and resource management to ensure high efficiency and responsiveness.
Manage comprehensive backup, recovery, and data integrity processes to safeguard critical information against loss or corruption.
Administer database security measures, including access controls, permissions, and security hardening, to comply with federal standards and protect sensitive data.
Support seamless database integration with applications and enterprise systems, ensuring interoperability within complex architectures.
Perform rigorous testing and validation of upgrades, patches, and releases to minimize system downtime and ensure stability.
Troubleshoot database issues, support incident resolution, and implement corrective actions promptly to maintain operational continuity.
Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and operational guidelines to support ongoing system management and audits.
Support data replication, synchronization, and high-availability solutions to ensure continuous access and disaster recovery readiness.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff, fostering best practices in database management and security.
