About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)
Soma Pattern
Remote / Europe-friendly
Early-stage | AI · Self-Awareness · Behavioral Pattern Intelligence · Professional Tools
About Soma Pattern
Soma Pattern is an AI-powered subconscious and behavioral pattern-mapping platform designed to help people understand what keeps repeating beneath their thoughts, decisions, relationships, and behavior.
Rather than functioning as a journal, mood tracker, or diagnostic tool, Soma builds continuity across conversations and experiences — identifying recurring patterns, beliefs, strategies, triggers, contradictions, and emerging shifts over time.
Soma serves two core audiences:
Personal users use Soma to develop deeper self-awareness, identify recurring patterns, and understand what may be driving their reactions and choices.
Professional users, including coaches, therapists, practitioners, and other client-facing professionals, use Soma to maintain continuity between sessions, identify recurring client patterns, prepare for sessions, surface cross-session insights, and track emerging changes over time.
Soma is now live and entering its first stage of commercial growth.
The Role
We are looking for a Chief Marketing Officer who can build Soma’s go-to-market engine from the ground up.
This is not a role for someone whose experience is primarily managing large marketing teams, agencies, or established acquisition budgets.
We need someone who is both strategic and highly hands-on — someone capable of defining the category Soma belongs in, shaping its narrative, identifying the channels most likely to produce early traction, and personally helping execute until those channels become repeatable.
You will work closely with the founder across positioning, growth, partnerships, content, product marketing, conversion, and brand.
The central question behind the role is:
How do we turn a product people find unusually valuable into a product the right people discover, understand, trust, use, and recommend?
What You’ll Own
You will lead Soma’s overall marketing and growth strategy, with responsibility across:
Positioning & Category Creation
Refine and protect Soma’s positioning within the emerging intersection of AI, self-awareness, behavioral pattern recognition, coaching, and reflective wellness.
Develop clear messaging that explains why Soma is different from:
AI therapy or chatbot products
journaling apps
mood trackers
coaching software
generic AI assistants
traditional client-management tools
Translate a relatively sophisticated product into language that feels immediately understandable and relevant.
Develop distinct positioning for Soma Personal and Soma Professional while maintaining one coherent brand.
Go-to-Market Strategy
Build and continuously refine Soma’s early-stage go-to-market strategy.
Identify the highest-leverage acquisition channels rather than attempting to grow everywhere at once.
Develop channel hypotheses, test them rapidly, measure outcomes, and scale what works.
Potential channels include:
practitioner and coach partnerships
therapist and professional communities
founder-led content
podcasts and media
professional directories
SEO and high-intent search
referral loops
partnerships and affiliates
communities
earned media and thought leadership
selective paid acquisition once organic conversion is understood
Professional / Practitioner Growth
Make Soma Professional a meaningful acquisition channel and revenue driver.
Develop strategies for reaching coaches, therapists, consultants, and other professionals who could integrate Soma into their client work.
Own practitioner outreach strategy, partnerships, onboarding propositions, ambassador programs, referral models, and professional case studies.
Identify opportunities where one professional user can organically introduce Soma to multiple clients.
Content & Authority
Build an authority strategy around the questions Soma is uniquely positioned to answer.
Create a content system across:
founder-led thought leadership
search-driven educational content
practitioner education
social content
podcasts
guest appearances
case studies
research-backed insights
email and lifecycle content
Content should build trust and category authority, not simply generate impressions.
SEO & AI Search
Own Soma’s search strategy across both traditional search and AI discovery.
Identify high-intent search opportunities around themes such as:
recurring behavioral patterns
subconscious patterns
repeating relationship patterns
self-awareness tools
journaling alternatives
AI tools for coaches and therapists
session preparation tools
client pattern tracking
reflective AI
Build a long-term content and authority strategy that increases the likelihood that Soma becomes discoverable through Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other AI-assisted discovery environments.
Conversion & Lifecycle
Work closely with product to understand the complete customer journey:
Discovery → Website → Signup → First insight → First map → Repeat use → Upgrade → Retention → Referral
Identify where users experience their first meaningful “Soma moment” and optimize the journey around it.
Own or influence:
landing-page conversion
signup conversion
onboarding
activation
free-to-paid conversion
lifecycle communication
retention messaging
upgrade triggers
win-back campaigns
referral loops
Growth should never rely on artificially withholding value. Soma’s conversion strategy should come from users experiencing genuine insight and wanting continuity.
Brand
Develop Soma into a credible, distinctive and recognizable brand.
Protect a tone that feels intelligent, psychologically sophisticated, contemporary, and human — without drifting into pseudo-science, therapy claims, or generic wellness marketing.
Oversee brand consistency across the website, social channels, partnerships, content, events, communications, and future campaigns.
Research & Customer Intelligence
Build continuous feedback loops with both Personal and Professional users.
Regularly talk to users and prospective users to understand:
why they try Soma
what they believe Soma does
what surprised them
what creates trust
where they hesitate
what creates willingness to pay
which language resonates
what causes users to return
what causes users to recommend it
Bring those insights directly into marketing, positioning, pricing, onboarding, and product decisions.
Measurement
Establish a simple, disciplined growth measurement system.
Key metrics may include:
qualified website traffic
signup conversion
activation
first-value moment
free-to-paid conversion
Personal vs Professional acquisition
practitioner acquisition
retention
referral rate
CAC by channel
organic search visibility
branded search growth
practitioner-to-client expansion
revenue contribution by acquisition source
Avoid vanity metrics unless they clearly contribute to awareness, trust, acquisition, or revenue.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first stage of the role, we would expect the CMO to:
establish a clear go-to-market strategy
sharpen Soma’s Personal and Professional positioning
identify the 2–3 acquisition channels most likely to produce early traction
build a structured practitioner acquisition strategy
create a repeatable founder/content distribution engine
establish Soma’s SEO and AI-search strategy
implement clear acquisition and conversion measurement
develop the first meaningful customer and practitioner case studies
improve activation and free-to-paid conversion through better communication and lifecycle design
build the foundations of an organic referral and advocacy engine
Over time, the role should move Soma from founder-led early growth toward a measurable and repeatable growth system.
Who We’re Looking For
You may be a strong fit if you have:
experience building marketing or growth for an early-stage technology company
experience with SaaS, consumer subscription products, AI products, digital wellness, coaching technology, health-adjacent products, or professional platforms
strong positioning and product-marketing instincts
experience taking a product from low awareness to meaningful organic traction
a strong understanding of conversion funnels and lifecycle marketing
comfort working directly with product data and analytics
experience with SEO and content-led acquisition
experience developing partnerships or community-led growth
the ability to write and communicate exceptionally clearly
the ability to switch easily between strategy and execution
strong judgment around sensitive or psychologically oriented products
Particularly Valuable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be especially valuable:
practitioner or therapist ecosystems
coaching platforms
